For as long as she can remember, Sadie Nesbitt has been surrounded by music.
Growing up in Burlington, Ontario, she began performing at just five years old in school musicals and quickly developed a lifelong connection to the stage. Her early training spans classical (RCM), musical theatre, and contemporary pop, alongside over a decade of vocal and dance performance experience. While her foundation is deeply rooted in performance, it was songwriting that ultimately gave her a way to translate experience into meaning.
Sadie began writing songs at 13, using music as a way to process life, faith, and emotion. What started as creative exploration soon became something more personal, a way of expressing what she couldn’t always put into words. Her songwriting is shaped by real experiences and often begins with a moment of inspiration that grows into reflection and message.
Her influences reflect that same emotional and stylistic range. Drawing inspiration from artists like Anne Wilson, Forest Frank, Adele, and Michael Bublé, Sadie blends strong vocal delivery with honest storytelling and accessible, heartfelt lyrics. These influences have helped shape her approach to writing music that is both deeply personal and widely relatable.
A defining moment in Sadie’s journey came through a simple but meaningful experience behind her debut single, “Sunglasses.” After receiving a pair of sunglasses as a gift, she went for a walk with her dog while praying and reflecting. Looking up at the bright sky, she felt overwhelmed by a sense of God’s love and presence through the warmth of the sun. That moment became the foundation for the song, capturing the way everyday experiences can point to something greater.
For Sadie, music is ultimately about connection, both with God and with listeners. Her mission is to point people toward Christ in a way that feels genuine and relatable, reminding them that they are not alone in whatever season they are walking through. She hopes her songs offer encouragement, hope, and a reminder of God’s presence, even in moments when it may be difficult to see.
Now serving on the River Worship team in Toronto, Sadie continues to develop her voice as a worshipper and songwriter, creating music that reflects both her faith and her desire to encourage others through honest, uplifting storytelling.
