This past week was a celebration of Canadian Christian musical talent at the 2010 GMA Canada conference. The four day event included a talent competition, around 50 artists showcasing at various Calgary venues and the Covenant Awards.
The Covenant Awards were emceed by comedian Phil Callaway and legendary singer/songwriter Randy Stonehill. The night kicked off with a bang as Greg Sczebel performed his current and very energetic single “Causin’ A Commotion” along with a crew of back-up dancers. It was great to see artists from all over Canada were represented one way or another.
The top six awards went to:
New Artist of the Year – Junkyard Poets
Male Vocalist of the Year – Greg Sczebel
Female Vocalist of the Year – Stephanie Israelson
Group of the Year – Downhere
Artist of the Year – Starfield
Song of the Year – Hold Us Together; Matt Maher (Matt Maher/Steve Wilson)
